- Typically, pulsating LEDs monitored by a camera at a fixed position
- Fast, reasonably short lag, but often prone to interference caused by
ambinent lighting confiditions
- Line of sight problems
- Acoustic
- Use ultrasound waves to measure position and orientation
- Slow and often imprecise
