Story time!

(With the project criticisms taking up all of our time yesterday, the introduction to the next project will double as this week's lecture. Jon Løvstad will also give an introduction to some image handling tools.)

Tell a story about a place, an object, an environment, a situation. You're subject can be virtually anything within reason, but bear in mind that the result should be useable as documentation of your creative abilities and skills to a somewhat wider audience than fellow students in the lab.

Bearing in mind the project planning "script" I gave you some time back, start here:

  • idea?
  • feasible?
  • set your target audience
  • choose your subject
  • decide the form
  • choose the presentation medium
  • choose your resources
  • make a project plan
  • create a story board
  • write the script
  • test dummies
  • design
  • assemble
  • test
  • reassemble
  • present
Before you start anything, I want you to consult me on choosing subjects so that we can set the right level of ambition before you get to far into the details.

Aim

To plan and implement a complete "story", documenting a subject with descriptive multimedia datatypes.

Resources and tools

  • Text
  • Images
  • Video
  • Sound
  • Animation
  • "VR"
Result

An understanding and experience of designing and assembling digital story-telling with a broad range of data-types, concentrating on the relationship between content character and environment technology.
