The Marx-Engels Forum is the vast circle beyond the trees. Marx and Engels were placed off center in the middle of the circle and the slabs arranged at the edge around them. On reunification, the BRD entered into an agreement with the DDR to preserve and maintain all national monuments in situ. Marx and Engels are now relegated to the western corner of the Forum as yet another "Ostalgie" tourist attraction.
